Action works fine. No original finish. Grips have original finish on them. What is OUTSTANDING is the inscription on the backstrap. It reads: "DEATH TO TRAITORS" A.W.S.. Death to traitors was the Battle Cry or Saying of Lafayette Curry Baker, Colonel of the 1st DC Cavalry. What a history he had. This Revolver JUST SCREAMS CIVIL WAR! Don't know whose initials they are, as there are several in the 1st DC Cavalry as such. You can find prettier inscribed Civil War Revolvers, but you can't find one more IN YOUR FACE!.
