Extremely Rare WW1 Canadian Issued Colt 1911 with provenance

Description:
For sale is a absolutely beautiful and historically significant Colt 1911.  This particular Colt 1911 was used and carried by Major JE Davey from Hamilton Canada.   The serial number puts this 1911 within the serial number range for the 5000 Colts purchased by Canada in 1914.  Also included in a packet of information on Major Davey.  He was in the medical Corp and served on the Western front during WW1 from 1914 to 1917.

The Colt 1911 itself is in really good condition for its age and service.   The  Finish is original and all parts are original and correct except for the magazine which is a modern reproduction of a lanyard loop mag. It is chambered in 45acp and came from Colt's commercial production guns like all of the Canadian Colts did.  The front strap of the pistol was engraved by Major Davey with his name and home town.   This was a very common occurrence with Canadian officers who purchased their sidearms from Canadian government.   This pistol also has two crown proof marks in the slide and frame and another proof mark under the serial number on the frame.  Overall truly a stunning piece of history and even harder to find with known provenance.
