For sale is a Colt Government Model, S/N C225951 made in mid 1947. Colt resumed post-war commercial production in Oct. 1946, starting from S/N 220001. The frame and slide are finished in high polished blue, with top of slide featuring a non glare matt surface.
Correct slide markings per Clawson’s “Colt .45 Government Models” book. Small parts are mostly common to wartime A1 configuration. Barrel is unmarked with white chamber top. Grips are WWII style Coltwood. Magazine is blued and marked COLT 45 AUTO at the floorplate. Colt assembler’s number 87 is seen on the right side of trigger guard. The Verified Proof “VP” and Colt inspector's initial “R” are found at left side of trigger guard. The 'R" stamp is also found at aft end of slide, under the firing pin stop plate.
Slight handling marks on top of slide and on forward grip strap. Otherwise this 74 year old 45 Auto is in excellent condition. Please note that the light marking of the pony on the slide is common on some early post War GM Colts, and does not indicate the slide has been refinished.
