RARE NICKEL FINISH AND "DEEP DISH" COLT MEDALLION PEARL GRIPS ON THIS 1908 .25 ACP AUTO PISTOL, #191XXX, MADE 1918, WITH COLT EMBOSSED CASE. This is a nice example of a very attractive early auto not often seen with this finish and grips. Importantly, the pearl grips are not chipped or cracked and display the deep dish style of indented medallions showing the famous rampant colt. Usually, pearl grips without the medallions are later, non-factory additions. The nickel on this example is still bright and shows only some light very small spots of wear on the bottom edge of the slide above the Colt markings on each side. Markings are all fine including the rampant colt stamping on the left rear side of the slide. Has a two-tone magazine, exc. mechanically with the grip safety functioning properly and fine bore. The case measures 8 12" X 5 3/4" and has a rampant colt in gold ink on the cover with a rectangular brass plate (unmarked). The inside is made with an impression for a Colt 1908 .25 ACP and is in red velvet. and satin. I don't know the age of the case, but it was obviously made for this type Colt pistol and makes for a very attractive display.
