** SOLD ** WW2 Royal Italian Army Beretta Model 1934 .32 ACP Pistol
* Non Import G.I. Bring-Back *
Description: This is a Royal Italian Army-issued .380 ACP Beretta Model 1934 pistol built during World War 2 that was likely brought to the States as War Trophy with no import marks. It is 100% original, just as the fascist Italians built it in 1940 at the Beretta factory. The Beretta Model 1934 was the main sidearm of the Italian Army as well as other branches of the Italian Military. As an ally of Germany, this pistol would have served in North Africa and the Mediterranean Theater with the Italian Army. After the Italians capitulated and surrendered to the Allies in 1943, Germany would immediately seize control of the Italian Army's weapons including a large number of these, and they also took over production of military arms in Italy at Beretta and elsewhere. The Model 1934 would continue be built under Nazi Germany's supervision from that point on. This particular example is serial number 851143 and was made in 1940, well before Germany took over control of the factory, and very likely saw front line combat with the Italians for 3 years and then potentially again with the German Military until their surrender in May of 1945. It also could have been captured earlier-on by American soldiers in the North African campaign when 250,000 German and Italian troops surrendered to the American and British forces outside of Tunis in 1943. This Model 1934 shows a very nice lightly worn patina all over, with a lot of the wear and thinning on the high edges and the grip straps from being handled and carried in a holster. It absolutely looks like it saw actual combat, and most certainly did not spend WW2 in a desk drawer of a some non-combat personele or in storage at some Italian armory. Th original factory blue is still nice and bright on some of the flats of the gun and in some of the protected areas. All of the factory markings are still crisp and clean, as-is the Italian Military acceptance proofs and inspector's marks. The final acceptance proof for the Royal Italian Army is still legible at the rear of the left side if the frame and consists of the a crown over "R.E." The bore in this Beretta is good overall, showing some very light pitting / frosting in the grooves but still has nice prominent lands from the chamber to the crown of the muzzle. There is more than enough clean rifling for this pistol to shoot just as accurately now as it did in 1940. The original grips on this pistol are in good shape as well, free from any major damage, excessive wear, repairs, or cracks. The metal reinforcement plate on the backside of each grip are both still in place, and both grips are tight to the gun with no wiggle. The "PB" Beretta logos on both grips are both still fully visible. The level of wear on the grips is a perfect match to the gun. The lanyard loop mounted on the grip frame is still there and in great shape, not bent or damaged. The action on this Beretta Model 1934 is both slick and smooth, and the frame-to-slide fitment is good. When released from the rearward position of travel, the slide will pick up a round out of the magazine and slam home into battery with the barrel just as it should. All of the controls on the pistol are in perfect working order including the left-side frame-mounted thumb safety. The action is single-action semi-automatic only, and with the hammer cocked the two-stage style trigger is quite good for a military service pistol with a light first stage, a definitive stop at the second stage, and a crisp breaking point requiring just a little bit more pull-weight to fire. Trigger travel is not excessive and the the reset is quick and short. The internals of the Beretta are in perfect condition, and there is no doubt that this Beretta will fucntion just as reliably today as it did more than 82 years ago. It comes with one original factory magazine with the original metal finger extension still intact. The magazine has a very strong follower spring and the feed lips are in excellent condition. If you have been looking for a nice all-original combat-used Beretta Model 1934 pistol for your collection that does not cost a fortune here is a great option. This pistol could be enjoyed as BOTH a shooter and an investment. These seem to be going up in value every single year and will VERY likely never be cheaper than they are right now.
