Synopsis: Attractive, Late Production High-Standard, Military Olympic Pistol Description: This is one of the last Olympic variations, Cal .22 short, made by High Standard in 1974, with a 6 5/8 in barrel and military frame, only 559 pistols having been assembled between 1972-1975. Barrel marked with caliber (left side) and usual Hamden address (right side). Black anodized slide marked “HIGH STANDARD”. Left side of frame marked “OLYMPIC”; right side of slide marked “MILITARY”. Full matching serial numbers on top of slide and right side of push button frame. Fitted with walnut checkered grips, the left panel having a thumb rest. Blued magazine with the right side marked “5 & 10”, and metal floorplate having a custom-matching electropenciled “142”. Condition: 98+% Bright original blue/anodizing. A few small handling marks as carefully photographed and sides of trigger polished. Crisp original grips. Magazine body with non-factory holes on front and rear spine, hollow pinned to limit cartridge capacity, with additional modification as was necessary to remove and reinsert custom/numbered floorplate. Mirror bore. Perfect manual mechanics. A very attractive and high condition pistol whose collectible status could be easily improved by the substitution of an unaltered magazine.
