Description: WWI Era Spanish ASTRA Patent M1916 7.65mm Semi-Automatic POCKET Pistol C&R “HOPE” Marked Spanish Copy of the BABY BROWNING Here we present a C&R Astra Model 1916 Semi-Automatic Pistol made circa the World War I era in Guernica, Spain. Astra Unceta y Cía was a Spanish weapons manufacturer founded on July 17, 1908, under the name Esperanza y Unceta by Juan Esperanza and Pedro Unceta. Initially based in Eibar, the center of the Basque arms industry, the company moved in 1913 to Guernica. This example is the Astra version of the "Eibar" pistol of World War I. The Eibar was first produced by another Spanish firm and offered to the French. France liked it so much that they put in an order that was too big for the other firm, so Astra made the model too, and the French bought it. The overall condition is fine. Original blue finish. The action is excellent. The bore is bright with nice rifling. Solid grips with excellent checkering. Sharp markings. “HOPE” marked barrel. Own the original!
