Description: RIO DE JANEIRO BR Antique BRACE of BELGIAN Pistols .54 Matched c1855 Laport BRAZIALIAN RETAILER MARKED BELT Pistols Here we present an antique Brace of Pistols by Laport Irmaos of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, made circa 1855 in Liege, Belgium. This set was made for the Brazilian market, thus the locks are marked by the Brazilian firm Laport Brothers. Alexandre Laport (1782-1855) founded the company in 1825 and they appear to have been at the intersection of Alfandega and Don Ourives. The overall condition is good. Both pistols have been nicely refinished. Strong actions. The bores are good for their ages. One pistol has a stable crack on the left stock flat. The left side of the barrel is marked “977” on both pistols. Liege proof marks. Clear markings. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 7-1/4 inches.
