Mid-19th Century CONCEAL & CARRY Gun
Description: ENGRAVED Irish LESLIE Antique PERCUSSION .68 MANSTOPPER Belt/Pocket Pistol Mid-19th Century CONCEAL & CARRY Gun Here we present an antique Engraved Leslie Marked Percussion Belt/Pocket Pistol, made in Armagh, Ireland circa the 1840s-50s. This type of pistol was very popular from the 18th and well into the 19th Centuries in the European countries, as well as the United States. They were of course made primarily for self-defense, especially in cities or traveling around the countryside. This mid-sized self-defense pistol would have been most at home tucked into one’s belt or in the coat pocket of anyone in a busy city like Dublin, Belfast, or Cork during the tumultuous times of the mid-1800s. As mentioned, this was of course made primarily for self-defense, and very well would tell stories if it could. Much happened in the United States and abroad during this period. Its gaping .68 caliber “manstopping” bore would have been quite the shock for the ne’er do wells roaming the big city streets. The overall condition is good. Strong action. Good bore for its age. Solid stock/grip. A thin crack is present near the lock screw. Markings are legible. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/2 inches. Caliber: .68 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #247693 Price: $1,200.00 Buy Now Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
