Antique Howdah Type Pistol OVER/UNDER Engraved .60 Caliber 1840s Large Defensive Sidearm for the Bush
Description: Antique Howdah Type Pistol OVER/UNDER Engraved .60 Caliber 1840s Large Defensive Sidearm for the Bush Here we present an antique Engraved Howdah Pistol, made circa 1840s. The howdah pistol was a large caliber handgun, usually with two barrels, used in India and Africa from the beginning of the nineteenth century, and into the early twentieth century, during the British Empire era. It was typically intended for defense against tigers, lions, and other dangerous animals that might be encountered in remote areas. Or, just for self defense while traveling against ne’er do wells. Twin bores of significant size offered good firepower and a quick follow-up shot for close encounters with predators. The overall condition is good. Dark patina throughout. The actions are strong. The bores are smooth and dim. Top barrel’s muzzle has a slight ding to it. There is a short, stable split off the back of the barrel tang with an otherwise solid stock. Here is a stately example of a pistol made for self-defense against man or beast! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8 inches. Caliber: .60 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #244406 Price: $1,800.00 Buy Now Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
