1741 Dated Antique OFFICER’S PISTOL with FRENCH & LATIN INSCRIPTIONS on Barrel “I. FRENER A DRESDE”
Description: 1741 Dated Antique OFFICER’S PISTOL with FRENCH & LATIN INSCRIPTIONS on Barrel “I. FRENER A DRESDE” Here we present an antique French Belt Pistol, made 1741. This example would have started out life as a flintlock and converted over when the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. This pistol is intriguing as it has a fairly long inscription, part of which is in Latin and the majority of which is in French. The top of the barrel in Latin says: “ME FECIT BURG 1741”. The left barrel flat and the right barrel flat taken together reads something like: “S’il mon major me tient tout qoui ___ luc tout Droit 1741.” The lock is marked with what we believe is the maker’s mark “I. FRENER A DRESDE”, the maker’s name and the city of Dresden in Germany. The overall condition is good. Original patina and strong traces of original gold finish on the brass. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. Markings and engravings are legible. Solid stock/grip. The stock has been shortened and the ramrod is a replacement. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9-1/4 inches. Caliber: .60 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #230953 Price: $1,800.00 Buy Now Antique: Yes Contact Seller |
