Contemporary Spanish Miquelet Flintlock Blunderbuss Naval Belt Pistol
Description: This is a very fine and authentic looking contemporary made Spanish miqulete flintlock blunderbuss naval belt pistol. Late 18th or early 19th century features. It has none of the most obvious sings of a modern made replica black powder gun. The barrel wall is not overly thick especially at the muzzel. So the pistol is not heavier then an antique of its size. Markings on the barrel look very much like what you'd find on an antique Spanish naval pistol. Even the small headed lock screws & almost unnoticable little side plate behind the belt hook. If it wasn't so clean it would almost fool a collector. It appears to never have been fired. Combination of brass and steel mounts. Steel butt cap extends to a backstrap attached by a screw at the butt, and one under the barrel tang. Steel belt hook has an intigrated pin as a second mounting point along with the rear lock screw to give it stability, so it very much is functional. Lock has very crisp action. Very strong springs. First cock is a safety position. Steel barrel is 8" long. My best guess at the bore size is about 65 caliber smooth. Octagon to round with marriage band. Tapering down from the breech to the end of the forend cap, then flarring out to 1 1/8" diamiter. Very hour glass shaped. Pistol measures about 13 1/2" long and weighs 2Lbs 1.4 oz.
