CATALAN, SPANISH Patilla Miquelet FLINTLOCK Pistol 1700s PIRATE Military NAVY From the CATALAN REGION of Spain!
Description: CATALAN, SPANISH Patilla Miquelet FLINTLOCK Pistol 1700s PIRATE Military NAVY From the CATALAN REGION of Spain! Here we present an antique Spanish Patilla, or “Militia” Miquelet Belt Pistol, made circa the 18th Century in Spain. This pistol comes from Sant Sadurní d'Anoia in the Catalan region of Spain with "A-N/SADV/RNI" (Sadurni) atop the lightly engraved barrel. This pistol was made when Spain was among the superpowers of the day, known for its powerful armada, its explorers and its colonies. Also, this pistol comes from an age of pirates and global seafaring trade. This pistol is of fighting size with a .67 caliber bore. Notice how the lockwork is exposed on the exterior whereas later designs put many of these same parts of the mechanism on the inside for longevity. The miquelet was an early and sturdy form of flintlock popular throughout Europe and the Ottoman Empire from the seventeenth into the early twentieth century A “Miquelet” is a type of flintlock developed in Spain. It is a distinctive form of snaplock, originally as a flint-against-steel ignition form, once prevalent in Spain, Portugal, Ital, the Balkans, North Africa and the Ottoman Empire from the late 16th to the mid-19th centuries. The miquelet lock, with its combined battery and pan cover was the final innovative link that made the flintlock mechanism possible. It proved to be both the precursor and companion to what we now call the "true" flintlock. This pistol saw a lot of Spanish history pass in its lifetime. This pistol has the distinctive patilla miquelet lock that continued to be used in Spain, Southern Europe, and other Mediterranean states long after northern regions had adopted the true flintlock. The overall condition is good. The action is as strong as ever. The bore is smooth and dark. The stock has checkering at the grip, with a thin crack on the left side of the stock. Overall, the stock remains solid. Here is an interesting Spanish flintlock pistol that would display well in a collection! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8 inches. Caliber: .67 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1765 #20670 SOLD Antique: Yes |
