Very nice Example of a rare Volcanic Navy Pistol. Has 8" barrel with an excellent bore. .41 Volcanic Caliber . This has the Period Deluxe Engraving.! The Engraving is very Elaborate and Sharp, with large open Scrolls, on a Punch Dot Background. Factory Installed, Two-Piece Ivory Grips are in very good condition. The grips have shrunk slightly and there are hairline age cracks on both butts and both sides. The Brass Frame and Grip Straps have a mellow un-polished Patina. The Case hardened Hammer and loading Lever have turned a gray-brown patina. Blued Barrel that has turned to a Bluish Brown patina. Has a Cone front sight . Dovetail Rear Sight mounted in dovetail on top of frame. Top Barrel Flat is Marked, "THE VOLCANIC/REPEATING ARMS CO./PATENTNEW HAVEN CONN. FEB. 14,1854.". Serial number is #1397, and is found on loading lever and left side of frame, under grip panel. Side plates fit perfectly. Screw heads are nice and show a minimum of tool marks. The barrel has some minor nicks and scratches and some minor edge wear. Buyer pays $50.00 shipping to lower 48 states.
