Antique Pre-1813 ENGLISH Brass Barrel .58 Cal. MANSTOPPER FLINTLOCK Pistol
Late 1700s/Early 1800s PRIVATE PROOFED Pistol
Description: Antique Pre-1813 ENGLISH Brass Barrel .58 Cal. MANSTOPPER FLINTLOCK Pistol Late 1700s/Early 1800s PRIVATE PROOFED Pistol Here we present a pre-1813 antique English Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistol, made circa the late 1700s to early 1800s in London, England. This pistol has a fairly large frame and a heavy brass barrel. The bore is a strong .58 caliber. Flintlock pistols were used as both military and self-defense weapons. Their effective range was much shorter than a musket and they were frequently used in combination with sword or cutlass. Then as now, rifles and muskets were the primary arm of the day, useful for everything from hunting to combat. Pistols were certainly not as numerous but still very useful for combat since most firearms at this time were limited to a single shot. Imagine if one discharged their single shot firearm only to miss or have another enemy close the distance. A man expecting trouble might carry as many pistols on his person as he could. According to some estimates, European rifles were made at a ratio of 250:1 over pistols, making these rare and highly coveted. The overall condition is fair. Several old chips and cracks can be observed in the stock. The action remains strong. The bore is smooth and dim. Nice patina throughout. A great piece for a historical display! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-7/8 inches. Caliber: .58 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1735 #220370 SOLD Antique: Yes |
