U.S.R. Ames Model 1842 Revenue Cutter Service Pistol
Description: This is a very RARE U.S. Revenue Cutter Service Pistol with only 144 being purchased by the U.S. Revenue Cutter Service in 1843. The Revenue Cutter Service was the pre, US Coast Guard. This is inspected by WAT for William Anderson Thornton and JCB for Joseph C Bragg. It has a B on the bolster and a P on the left front edge of the barrel band. There is a B forward of the trigger guard. Barrel is marked USR1843 and below is JCB over P. The lock still has 40% case colors. The mechanical function is very good crisp and tight. The bore is smooth bore with traces of fine pitting. The wood is very good to fine condition. This RARE pistol will rate fine condition overall all with crisp markings.
