ENGRAVED Antique BECKWITH British SUPERPOSED O/U PERCUSSION Pistol .66 Cal. Mid-1800s DUAL HAMMER OVER/UNDER Pocket Pistol
Description: ENGRAVED Antique BECKWITH British SUPERPOSED O/U PERCUSSION Pistol .66 Cal. Mid-1800s DUAL HAMMER OVER/UNDER Pocket Pistol Here we present an antique English Superposed Percussion Pistol by Beckwith made circa the mid-1800s in London, England. William Beckwith was apprentice to Wattel Clark circa 1785 and went out on his own in 1801, reportedly working for himself until circa 1861. His one known shop address was 58 Skinner Street. From the time that firearms were introduced, gunsmiths had experimented with various ways to turn those single shot weapons into multi-shot weapons. Prior to the use of “repeating” arms, one of the most successful systems was to use multiple barrels, each with their own load and charge. The overall condition is very good. Nice engravings. Gray patina. The actions are excellent. The bores are smooth. The grip is solid. This one has a captive ramrod on a swivel underneath the barrels, which is a very nice feature. This large bore 2-shot pistol would have been very formidable on street, battlefield, or in the wilderness. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 4-1/2 inch. Caliber: .66 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2400 #228559 SOLD Antique: Yes |
