SALE PENDING This is a completely original Savage and North Ring Trigger .36 percussion Navy pistol. WORKS PERFECTLY! Made in small number for U.S. Army in 1862 -1863. Approximately 11,000 were sent to Union troops and about 9000 ended up in Confederate hands. 7" barrel with shootable bore. Even when offered at prices above $2500, they are commonly found in non-working condition. This gun is excellent mechanically, and will reliably fire off caps on all six chambers in a row. One grip panel has a solid crack. Interestingly, this pistol has what looks like an early phosphate type finish, which is even across the whole revolver. There is no indication of rust of any kind nor does it appear to have ever been cleaned or interfered with. Pictured in the photos for comparison is a U.S. marked 1851 Colt Navy manufactured in 1864 that shows no signs of wear, and has the same phosphate type finish as this Savage. This is a pistol that undoubtedly saw action in the Civil War, probably a lot of it, most likely by Confederate troops or Bushwackers, or even maurading northern JayHawkers. Sold as collector's item only, not for use. $1395 plus $25 basic shipping. I'm a collector not a dealer; trades for Colt percussion pistols possible.
