WAR of 1812 Era FLINTLOCK OFFICER Pistol by WALLIS Napoleonic Era Big Bore .67 Caliber Horse Pistol
Description: WAR of 1812 Era FLINTLOCK OFFICER Pistol by WALLIS Napoleonic Era Big Bore .67 Caliber Horse Pistol Here we present an antique British Officer’s Flintlock Pistol by Stephen Wallis, made circa the early 1800s. Wallis practiced his craft from at least 1807 to 1833 and his address is recorded at Vauxhall Road in Birmingham, England. This was a period when the British Empire was the empire fighting against Napoleon Bonaparte of France and the dominant power in much of continental Europe at the beginning of the 19th century. A series of wars, known collectively as the Napoleonic Wars, extended French influence to much of Western Europe and into Poland. At its height in 1812, the French Empire had 130 departments, ruled over 70 million subjects, maintained an extensive military presence in Germany, Italy, Spain, and the Duchy of Warsaw, and counted Prussia and Austria as nominal allies. The Napoleonic Wars were therefore ones in which Britain invested large amounts of capital and resources to win. French ports were blockaded by the Royal Navy, which won a decisive victory over a Franco-Spanish fleet at Trafalgar in 1805. Overseas colonies were attacked and occupied, including those of the Netherlands, which was annexed by Napoleon in 1810. Britain was simultaneously involved in a war with their former colonies, the War of 1812 (1812-1815) which was related to the brutal conflict with Napoleon. France was finally defeated by a coalition of European armies in 1815. This pistol is large and has a .67 caliber bore. This handsome pistol would have been most at home in a saddle mounted pommel holster when not punching large holes. This would have been the type of pistol an officer purchased on his own to bring to battle. The overall condition is Good. The action is strong, although the hammer sticks a little. The bore is smooth and dark. All the markings are clear. The lock is engraved “S. Wallis”. Here is an impressive example of a massive big-bore pistol from the early 19th Century! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 9-3/16 inches. Caliber: .67 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
