Description: Replica BRASS BARREL THOMAS KETLAND & Co. British FLINTLOCK Pistol Single Shot .70 Caliber Here we present a Copy of a T. Ketland & Co. Marked Flintlock Pistol. Thomas Ketland & Co. was a firearms manufacturer founded in Birmingham, England somewhere around 1760. Thomas Ketland Sr. was a highly successful Birmingham gunmaker. He started his business around 1760 and expanded into the export market around 1790. He died in 1816. The business carried on until bankruptcy in 1821. The company manufactured flintlock pistols, becoming quite successful in its field. John and Thomas Ketland were the sons of Thomas Ketland and grandsons of William Ketland, who had been making locks and guns for the colonies since the early 18th Century. The lock plate is marked “T./KETLAND/&Co” and the barrel is marked “LONDON”. This pistol would have likely belonged to a military officer during this period. The barrel is round with a beautiful full-length walnut stock, and the engravings are reserved yet handsome. If only this gun could tell us some stories. The overall condition is very good. Patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock is solid with some signs of age and use. Barrel is 8-5/8 inches.
