Pair of Spanish Miquelet Pistols
Description: Pair of 18th Century Spanish miquelet pistols by Deop. 12 inches overall length with heavy 6 1/2 inch steel barrels that transition from octagonal to round with a slight flare at the muzzle. Barrels are richly decorated with fleur de lis, maker marks and the Battista family coat of arms in gold. Flash pans are coated with gold. Barrel tangs are nicely engraved with scales and floral designs. The fore-ends are relief engraved with grapes and leaves. The steel butt caps, trigger guards and ramrod throats are engraved with shell and martial motifs. Two screws with seashell designs in lieu of side plates. Original ramrods with horn tips, Solid full length walnut stocks with heavy cross-cut texture at the butts. Comes with a purple velvet-lined case that is not original to the guns. The Deop family emigrated to Ripoli in the mid 16th Century and produced firearms over a period of almost 300 years. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Antique: Yes |
