Description: 18th Century KETLAND FLINTLOCK Pistol Antique Revolutionary War Period British Military Flintlock Pistol Here we present an antique Ketland & Co. marked Flintlock Pistol, made in the 18th Century in London, England. This was a period full of turmoil for Britain as she faced internal, Continental as well as Colonial warfare. The Jacobite Rising of 1745 internally, Seven Years War (1756-1763) globally, the French & Indian War (1754-1763) in North America, the American Revolutionary War (1775-1883), the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815), just to name a few. The lock plate is marked "KETLAND/& Co" ahead of the hammer. Light engravings can be seen on the barrel tang and side plate. The left rear side of the barrel is stamped with London proof marks. “LONDON” can be seen atop the barrel. The overall condition is good. The action only partially functions as the hammer does not stay cocked, although the springs have strong tension. The bore is in good shape, smooth and gray.
