18th Century ENGRAVED Spanish MIQUELET Flintlock PISTOL Pirates Explorers From 1700s Imperial Spain!
Description: 18th Century ENGRAVED Spanish MIQUELET Flintlock PISTOL Pirates Explorers From 1700s Imperial Spain! Here we present an antique Spanish Patilla Miquelet Belt Pistol, made circa the 1700s in Spain. The miquelet was an early and sturdy form of flintlock popular throughout Europe and the Ottoman Empire from the seventeenth into the early twentieth century A “Miquelet” is a type of flintlock developed in Spain. It is a distinctive form of snaplock, originally as a flint-against-steel ignition form, once prevalent in Spain, Portugal, Ital, the Balkans, North Africa and the Ottoman Empire from the late 16th to the mid-19th centuries. The miquelet lock, with its combined battery and pan cover was the final innovative link that made the flintlock mechanism possible. It proved to be both the precursor and companion to what we now call the "true" flintlock. This pistol saw a lot of Spanish history pass in its lifetime. This pistol has the distinctive patilla miquelet lock that continued to be used in Spain, Southern Europe, and other Mediterranean states long after northern regions had adopted the true flintlock. The overall condition is good. The action is mobile but the hammer does not stay cocked. The bore has become dark over the years with a layer of dust. The makers mark atop the barrel appears to read “TE/VIAS”. There is a small inventory mark from a previous collection or museum. The carved stock and engraved metal parts make this a wonderful piece to display! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 5-1/4 inches. Caliber: .69 Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1100 #20673 SOLD Antique: Yes |
