Very nice Rare antique National Arms Co. Derringer .41 Rimfire
Description: Manufacturer: National Arms Co. Brooklyn New York Model: No. 1 Serial Number: 5968 Year of Manufacture: 1865-1870 Caliber: .41 Rimfire Action Type: Single Action, Single Shot Side Loading Barrel Length: 2 ½” irregular shape Sights: This derringer is mounted with a blade front sight and a notch in the hammer rear sight. The top of the barrel is marked: National Arms Co. Brooklyn. N.Y. The bottom of the barrel is marked “5968”. PAT.FEB.24.1865 Description: This is a Moore’s Patent Firearms Co. and The National Arms Co. Brooklyn, NY . No. 1 first model Derringer. These were made by Moore 1860 to 1865 and by National 1865-1870. Estimated at approximately 6000 produced equally between the two companies. Colt firearms purchased National Arms Co. in 1870 and continued to produce this all metal derringer under the Colt name. Condition: 2 ½” barrel . A button on the side of the frame is moved backward to release the barrel that twists sideways to load . Barrel has a good bore showing minor pitting from black powder use and strong rifling. The barrel finish is missing allmost all of the original bluing and now maintains a nice gray pewter finish. The brass frame has a nice looking decorative broad scroll engraving on frame and breach of barrel . The engraving is sharp and deep. The Screw heads are sharp showing just minor use. All markings are all clear and legible. The metal finish looks very nice with the usual wear and handling marks. Please judge the appearance from the photos. Mechanically works very well in half and full cock positions with a strong hammer spring. This is an antique and no FFL required. I will include the two rounds of vintage Remington .41 Rimfire ammo for displaying with this antique pistol , along with free shipping.
