Antique Colt .38 Center Fire Pocket Navy Richards Mason Conversion w/Period Holster No FFL
Description: Hi $1325 for the rig. $1250 for pistol alone. Colt Pocket Navy WITH EJECTOR and loading gate. Ca 1873-1875. Total production of about 2000. The vast, vast majority of this type of cartridge pistol was made from various parts left in stock and was known as the Colt Round Barrel. They were mostly made in .38 rim fire without an ejector and without a loading gate. Although this was a different firearm, newly made by Colt, most were made in rim fire, not center fire. This piece is .38 black powder Center Fire. Barrel and lug contour with attached ejector rod and loading gate. Factory plugged loading lever area. On the left side of the frame are 1871 and 1873 patent dates. The gun was rather heavily cleaned at some point in the past, and was nickeled. It has been partially cleaned, but spots and places of nickel still show. Patent dates are clear. Mechanically, the gun indexes and locks up well. It does not need work to make it function properly, and it was not made of replacement parts. There are few of these around in any condition. The holster is extremely old, and shows indication of having been made during the Mexican Revolution, during the first 20 years of the twentieth century. It’s serviceable, and there are 32 cartridge loops, with only a couple that are worn through. Five shot cylinder. No FFL required for most states. This is an excellent specimen to clean up a bit more. And quite likely both gun and holster are survivors of the Mexican Revolution. Please email any questions. SOLD Antique: Yes |
