WAR of 1812 Era Antique W. KETLAND BRASS BARREL .58 Cal. FLINTLOCK Pistol
Description: WAR of 1812 Era Antique W. KETLAND BRASS BARREL .58 Cal. FLINTLOCK Pistol London Made Martial Sized Pistol Here we present an antique W. Ketland & Co. Brass Barrel Flintlock Pistol, made circa 1803-1810 in turn of the century England. Ketland & Co. operated in England, from the late 1700s and to the early 1800s to become one of the most prominent and active British makers of the day. John and Thomas Ketland were the sons of Thomas Ketland and grandsons of William Ketland, who had been making locks and guns for the colonies since the early 18th Century. The lock plate is marked “W/ KETLAND” and the brass barrel is marked “LONDON”. Pre-1813 London proofs on the barrel. This pistol would have been a solid choice for the officer, for the frontiersman, or anyone needing to be armed in those days. The Ketlands made a lot of guns for trade and commercial sales. The overall condition is very good. Nice patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock has some little knots and certainly signs of honest use. There is an oval stamp that appears to read “Lauer” several times throughout. We believe this is a property stamp or perhaps even a retailer stamp. The forestock under the barrel and over the ramrod has a split, but other than that the stock is solid. This is a great piece that feels like its been places and done things. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 7-3/4 inches. Caliber: .58 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1600 #228557 SOLD Antique: Yes |
