UNIQUE BRITISH Antique SIDE x SIDE .42 ROCKING BARREL PERCUSSION Pistol
Nicely Engraved Double Action Only SxS Sidearm
Description: UNIQUE BRITISH Antique SIDE x SIDE .42 ROCKING BARREL PERCUSSION Pistol Nicely Engraved Double Action Only SxS Sidearm Here we present an antique British Side by Side Swivel Barrel Percussion Pistol made circa the mid-1800s in Birmingham, England. From the time that firearms were introduced, gunsmiths had experimented with various ways to turn those single shot weapons into multi-shot weapons. Prior to the use of “repeating” arms, one of the most successful systems was to use multiple barrels, each with their own load and charge. In Great Britain many pocket pistols were produced with two or for barrels, and sometimes even more. This one tried to achieve a single mechanism for two barrels. The interior of the gun is unique in that it has these pinwheels that alternately press on one side’s barrel or the other. Unfortunately, no maker name is present. This is the only firearm we have ever observed with this system, and it may be one-of-a-kind. The overall condition is good. The action partially functions: the double action trigger will raise and drop the hammer, there is a little hesitation for the hammer to fall, and the barrel assembly seems to only want to rock to the left. The ramrod is absent. Both bores are smooth and have an aged patina. Both grips are in good shape with average wear (minor dents and dings). Finely engraved backstrap with traditional floral designs. Birmingham proofs on the bottom of each barrel. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrels are 2-3/4 inches. Caliber: .42 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1300 #217709 SOLD Antique: Yes |
