KUNZ FLINTLOCK PISTOL Brass Barreled PENNSYLVANIA .56 Caliber PA
Antique
American Primitive Conversion to Percussion!
Description: KUNZ FLINTLOCK PISTOL Brass Barreled PENNSYLVANIA .56 Caliber PA Antique American Primitive Conversion to Percussion! Here we present an antique Brass Barreled Flintlock Pistol by Kunz, made circa the late-18th Century, likely in Pennsylvania. This would have been useful for anyone in the colonies in the pre-Revolutionary War period and could very well have been used during the war. It has an iron lock plate with “Kunz” hand inscribed in the middle. This pistol was eventually updated to percussion by having the frizzen assembly removed, the flash pan ground off, and a drum installed in the vent. Interestingly, the flintlock cock was retained and a bent piece of metal was clinched in its jaws, a type of primitive method of converting it into a percussion hammer. This was done sometimes in frontier conversions or in the Confederacy during the American Civil War due to a dearth of manufacturing and materials. This pistol has a full-length stock with tear drop barrel pin escutcheons. It looks like bone side plates under the lock screw heads on the left stock flat. Hand-checkered grip. There was one, if not several, families of Kunz gunmakers in Pennsylvania variously spelling their names “Kunz”, “Koontz”, “Kunts”, “Kuntz”, etc. The overall condition is good. The action is strong. The bore is smooth and patinated. The stock shows much use and remains solid. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 8 inches. Caliber: .56 Flintlock Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1800 #230379 SOLD Antique: Yes |
