FRENCH Antique .60 BIG BORE Percussion Conversion Pocket Pistol MANSTOPPER
Early 1800s Short Range SELF DEFENSE Pistol
Description: FRENCH Antique .60 BIG BORE Percussion Conversion Pocket Pistol MANSTOPPER Early 1800s Short Range SELF DEFENSE Pistol Here we present an antique French Percussion Conversion Belt/Holster/Pocket Pistol, made circa the early 19th Century likely in or around Paris, France. This example would have started out life as a flintlock and converted over when the more reliable percussion firing system was introduced. This large bore flintlock pistol was used primarily as a self-defense weapon. Their effective range was short, and they were frequently used as an adjunct to a sword. Pistols in this era were usually smoothbore, although some rifled pistols were produced. They came in a variety of sizes with the smallest being less than 6 inches and the largest ranging to over 20 inches. The mid-sized pistols, such as this example, are what would be carried in the busy streets of Paris or London in the pocket of a gentleman’s coat during the tumultuous times of the early 1800’s in Western Europe. The overall condition is good. The action functions, but the hammer does not stay in full cock. The bore is good for its age. Checking on the grip has smoothed. The wood overall is in good shape with average handling. Markings on the lock are worn and not quite legible. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 4-1/4 inches. Caliber: .60 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1200 #230952 SOLD Antique: Yes |
