Great Contemporary Alternative to the DERINGER!
Here we present an antique Allen & Thurber Double Barrel Single Trigger Pistol. Somewhere between 500 and 1000 of these rare little pistols were manufactured around 1850. This pocket- or boot-sized double barrel pistol would have made a great competitive option over Henry Deringer’s namesake invention. This pistol features dual barrels in about .34 caliber, each with its own hammer, both hammers operated by the same trigger that will fire in sequence (not at the same time). With just enough grip & low profile hammers this pistol was streamlined to be convenient enough to always be worn.
The barrel rib on top is marked “ALLEN & THURBER” and “WORCESTER”. The bottom of the barrel is numbered “203”.
The overall description is good. The action is strong and tight. The bores have darkened over time. One trigger is pulled to fire both hammers. A nice double barrel pistol that would have gotten the job done!
Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction.
