WWII US M1917A1 Helmet By McCord Radiator

This is a nice WWII M1917A1 Helmet, also known as the "Kelly" helmet and was manufacture by the McCord Radiator and Manufacturing Company of Detroit from February 1941 to May 1941 with a total of 902,020 units made. The helmet was replace by the M1 helmet. This helmet in very good condition with very little oxidation, excellent exterior "cork" finished original paint, the interior is marked with a M1917A1 heat code of "5C". The brim is marked JAMES MERATT with what could be a partial service number. The chinstrap is in excellent original condition with brass fixtures. The leather of the head pad assembly is flexible with a bit of chalkiness, the center pad marked "C. LIdo U.S.N" with some of the original leather tie. Over-all a fine example of an early war helmet.
