Description: Formerly a possible Union Cavalry "bring-back"-NOT Infantry...Total Mfg'd=30,000+ and THIS is an EARLY ser. #42xx This weapon belonged to a Northfield,MN resident that was believed involved in the James Gang from Confederate(Missouri) Robbery of the Northfield Bank-June-1876 Posse. See the documentary that accompanies this historic piece. The L.side plate doesn't fit securely and 1 sideplate screw needs better fitting...possibly cross threaded. This rifle is a "hand me down" and we are located approx. 50mi. from Northfield,MN . The photos show the rifle-CARBINE best for your consideration. Buyer can decide it worthiness for purchasing. Aside from the previously mentioned the weapon operates as designed and is tight-snug in fit and operation. There are a few more modern Smith Cartridges using 2F BLACK POWDER for loading the Former PAPER wrapped Ct'g. as issued during the Civil war that are included in this offering.
