Jean Tanazacq The Dean of French Knifemakers Scarce PRAIRIE 2
Description: PRAIRIE II prototype made in June 22,1986 as it is the only such exceptional model ever produced. Jean Tanazacq is one of the most illustrious French cutlery artisans. His productions all exude a very strong personality, superb ergonomics, and they are closer to a piece of art than a knife. This model comes in two blade lengths 8-5/8" for the PRAIRIE 1 and 7-1/8" for its companion, you are seeing the model shown. Both knives are constructed and made from 1/4" 440C steel stock, reinforced tip with a mirror polished blade. The solid brass pommel has two opening to tie up security laces, while both knives comes with a double brass guard for hand protection in the "regular"version such as the (PRAIRIE 1)this particular model comes with a scarce large German silver double guard with seldom seen thumb notches on top and bottom of the blade. Also the ricasso is somehow in a half-moon shape as opposed to be straight on a regular PRAIRIE 1 or 2. This is a very unique model that was never reproduced. Rare double markings on blade map of France and wild boar logo. Extra heavy-duty leather scabbard of the highest quality with Tanazacq's brany carved wild boar logo in picture # 12.
