Description:
BARREL ONLY - Browning Auto-5 (A5), Light Twenty (Twenty), 20-gauge shotgun barrel, 2-3/4" chamber, 26” Vent Rib, made in Belgium with fixed Modified choke (**). The last of the Browning production in Belgium for their extra barrels. In fact, these have a barrel stamp on the left side which states, “Made in Belgium by Browning S.A.” These were shipped in bulk inside a heavy plastic sheath, with a strip of foil to protect the vent rib, and the barrel was coated with a corrosion inhibitor both on the exterior and interior. No factory box provided. New Old Stock condition with very nice, dark polished bluing and no signs of wear. The corrosion inhibitor leaves a dull coating to the bluing which shows fingerprints and attracts debris.
All of the barrels as acquired had fixed Full chokes. Some of those barrels were then professionally opened to either Modified or Improved Cylinder by a master gunsmith who used an alignment system to keep everything concentric to the bore. This particular barrel was opened to a true Modified choke with the barrel bore having a diameter of 0.624" and the choke was opened to 0.610" to produce a restriction of 0.014". An asterix symbol was added next to the original one on the barrel.
Due to the added cost to open the choke, the price as listed is FIRM. All of the Full choke barrels have been sold.
