Description:
Saturday March 1st, 9am - 12pm
This intermediate archery course is designed for archers who have a basic understanding of archery and are ready to take their skills to the next level. The focus of this course will be on refining shooting technique, understanding compound bow setup and maintenance, and exploring advanced shooting techniques.
We'll begin by reviewing range safety rules and discussing the specific challenges and techniques associated with compound bows. Students will check their equipment, including draw weight and draw length, and ensure proper string wax application. We'll then move to the range and shoot a few rounds at 10 yards, focusing on maintaining good form and consistency.
Once everyone is comfortable, we'll delve deeper into advanced shooting techniques. Students will learn about the importance of a solid anchor point and proper release technique. We'll introduce the concept of back tension, discuss the role of the trigger in a smooth release, and review the use of bow sights and how to adjust them for optimal accuracy.
Finally, we'll move to shooting at longer distances and grouping shots, as well as discuss basic bow tuning concepts such as adjusting draw weight and timing the cam system. By the end of the course, students will have a solid foundation in intermediate archery and be well-prepared to take on more advanced challenges.
The class culminates with a Q&A session, where participants can share insights and enjoy refreshing drinks and hors d’oeuvres.
$245 per person (plus applicable NJ sales tax). All equipment is provided. Age 16 and over only.
