For sale is a Two Piece Teyssier Wood Blank. Of course, Teyssier was the wood of choice for fine gunstock making in the 1920's, 1930's, and the 1940's.
I purchased this blank a while back with the intent of using it for a Martini Cadet build. At the time, I was going to build a gun with 2 barrels, and, as such, got 2 forearms to use with it. I am fond of the 218 Bee, and thought I would definately use that for one of the calibers, as well as (perhaps) another barrel in 25-20.
I have to tell you the inspiration for this build: if you look at the last picture, you see a Baby Farquharson stocked by the Master, Tom Shelhamer. I so loved this gun that I searched high and low for a blank that looked like it, and this blank, in my humble opinion, was very, very close to the Shelhamer stocked Farquharson. That Farquharson is as good as it gets.
In regards to the measurements, here they are for the two forearms. See picture # 8. The forearm on the right (the slightly shorter one) is 12 1/2" long, 2 1/4" wide, and the height is 2 3/4" at the widest point, and 2 3/8" at the shortest point. If you look at Picture # 8, the shortest point is at the top of the picture. The whole forearm is a least 2 1/2" until the very top, where at about 1 1/2" from the end it starts to cut in.
Again, in Picture # 8, the forearm on the left is 13 1/2" to the middle as far as length is concerned. It is about 13 5/8" in length to the right side, and about 13 3/8 to the left side. The width of this forearm is 2 3/16." It is just a little bit narrower than the other forearm.
The butt blank is 18" (Length) to the middle of the blank. The top end is 17 3/4" (where the "O3A" and "O3B" are on the top side. On the bottom side, the Length is 18 3/16."
The width of the butt blank is 2 3/8" at the wider end and 2 5/16" at the narrower end.
The height of the butt blank is 6 7/8" at the very end (the wide end). The height of the butt blank at the narrow end is 5 5/16."
The gouge is 3/4" down from the top as pictured. It is 3 1/2" and 5 1/8" from the narrow end.
The dimple is 3 1/8" to 4 1/2" from the narrow end. It is about 1/16" to 1/8" in depth.
