Colts Patent Bullet Mold Early 1860 Army or Late 3rd Model Dragoon
Description: Here is a superb and early 1860 Colts Patent Army bullet mold that would go with the earliest Model Army Colt produced. It also would go with the late 3rd Model Dragoon. The early features on this mold are the late Dragoon marking S on the upper right block, the rounded sprue cutter and the slimmer profile legs. The later 1860 Army bullet molds were much bulkier and had a squared-off sprue cutter with different markings on the right block. The hinge on this mold is tight and yets works very smoothly. The Colts Patent marking is clearly readable. The patina is a gun-metal grey. It has some light wear marks on both blocks but it has never been used to tap out wedges or as a hammer. It closes tightly in the back and the cavities are perfect. This is a beautiful, early 1860 Army bullet mold that would be very hard to improve on anywhere under $500. It would display well with any Civil War items or case very well with a fine Colt. SOLD |
