St. Valentine’s Day Massacre GENUINE ORIGINAL Brick from the Building
Description: SOLD. $1200/Offer This is an actual brick salvaged from SMC Cartage Company 2122 Clark Street in Chicago where mobsters dressed as Chicago Police officers used Thompson machine guns to murder rival gang members in the St. Valentine Massacre on February 14, 1929.. Al Capone was looking to expand his South Side operations to the North Side, and sent Machine Gun Jack McGurn and several others to a garage owned by North Side mobster George Bugsy Moran to send a message to Moran. McGurn and the others were dressed as Chicago police so as to more easily gain access to Moran's place. Once inside they disarmed the Moran men, lined them up and machinegunned them, killing seven of the North Side mob. The shooters all got away and were never prosecuted. The brick comes with a photo of the SMC Cartage building at the time of the massacre and also a copy of a Chicago newspaper clipping from 1967 shortly before the building was torn down. There are also copies of an old photo of the Coroner's Jury, a photo inside the garage showing the dead mobsters, and a copy of a photograph of a mortician displaying a body riddled by machinegun bullets. Provenance from Neal Trickel, a foremost collector of Mob, Mafia, Gangster, and Chicago Police material is included. Mr Trickel procured many items for the Mob Museum in Las Vegas. There are few of these in existence and seldomly become available. A first rate crime collectible! Possible trades for antique pre-1899 pistols. Just send a message. SOLD |
