Vietnam War US Army Daisy Model 2299 Project Quick Kill Training Rifle
Description: NSN, .177 Caliber, 19" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a US Army version of the legendary Daisy Model 95 BB gun modified for use in the "Quick Kill" point shooting program instituted to increase the combat effectiveness of short range, snap-shot marksmanship much more economically than through the use of actual firearms. These rifles were not made with any sights as a result, with about 30,000 units purchased between 1967 & 1970. The metal retains 70-75% of the original black paint finish with the balance flaked from extensive use, exposing the underlying gray metal. The special wooden forend and Monte Carlo style buttstock have numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered about the original varnish finish, with some large chips missing from the forend tip. The left side of the frame has a large inventory sticker that reads, "PROPERTY US ARMY / 5A TRG AIDS CENTER," with "5TH ARMY / TRG AIDS" stenciled on the left side of the buttstock, and a rack number on the right side, "114." A notarized photocopy of US Army inventory tags accompanies the rifle, certifying that it was released from Fort Drum, NY. These are highly sought after military airguns, and this example is in very good-near fine condition. SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes |
