Savage, 1907, Matte Finish Rework, .45 ACP, 107, A-1819
Description: Standard configuration Savage 1907 pistol in .45 ACP made by Savage to compete against the Colt. Production limited to 288 pistols, this one (#107) is listed by serial number on page 261 in the book: "U.S" Military Automatic Pistols" by Scott Meadows, reported as being in a private collection, having a serial number just beyond the group, issued to Troop I, 3rd Cavalry, Fort Wingate, New Mexico. After the testing, the guns were reworked and sold commercially. Part of the refinish included removing most of the slide legend, leaving only “ CAL .45”. When resold by Savage, a revised single line legend was applied to the left of the slide rib. The only other marking on the gun are the “SAFE” and “FIRE” at the rear of the frame. In this case, all parts matched to #107 except the unnumbered grips. Synopsis: Savage, 1907, Military Test Pistol, Matching, Matte Finish Rework, .45 ACP, 107, A-1819 Condition: VG rework with matte blue generally faded, oxidative etching on the right side of the slide near muzzle as imaged. VG case colors on trigger and magazine release. Comparable condition dark oiled grips with blunted checkering as photographed. Near excellent original finish magazine. Mirror bore with sharp rifling. Perfect manual mechanics. An extremely interesting and historic Savage, all matching except for unnumbered grips, for less than half of what you would expect to pay for a comparable, original pistol. ~~Insured shipping fee of $155; most packages shipped using FedEx 2nd Day.~~ SOLD Curio/Relic: Yes Manufacturer: Savage Serial Number: 107 Caliber Info: .45 ACP |
