Early WWII M1 Helmet Front-Seam Fixed Bale
Description: This is a very nice example of a genuine WWII Front-Seam Fixed Bale M1 Helmet made by McCord Radiator, with a St. Clair liner. This combination is very early war late 1941- early 42 made. This is a correct McCord front seam, production number of 73C with an excellent exterior, fixed bale, tan straps with brass hardware correct chin strap with a light presence of oxidation on the surface interior. The inside of the shell has the first name that is seen throughout this set, the name D.E DORR in white stencil reminiscent of the navy. The low pressure plastic liner is complete and matching, has permanent chin strap holders riveted to the liner with rectangular metal washers and the small recess cuts made to the edge of the liner to provide room for the fixed chin strap loops. This is only found on the St. Clair liner. (The M1 Helmet: Mark A Reynosa 1996) Here again we see the repeat of the Dorr name on the sweat band and suspension harness. The name is on the back outside of the liner in black paint with hand written names labeling on the top of the liner and the front, along with the name is the addition of the 20th Battalion with a place name I can not make out. Through my research, it is possible this to be the 20th Battalion, Navy Seabees. This is an outstanding all complete and correct WWII M1 fighting helmet. SOLD |
