WW2 RARE EARLY 2ND PATTERN WILKINSON SWORD NICKELED FAIRBAIRN SYKES BRITISH COMMANDO FIGHTING KNIFE! ORIGINAL, UNTOUCHED
Description: WW2 RARE EARLY 2ND PATTERN WILKINSON SWORD NICKELED FAIRBAIRN SYKES BRITISH COMMANDO FIGHTING KNIFE! NOT OFTEN SEEN IN ANY CONDITION ANY LONGER, LET ALONE LIKE THIS EXAMPLE. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The blade is a 6 3/4" FULL LENGTH Drop Forged, Hand Ground, Hand Sharpened Blade by Wilkinson Sword Master Blade Smiths. It survives in superb undamaged condition. These early blades were like a needle, and razor sharp for the "Silent Kill" of German Sentries, taught by Msrs. Fairbairn & Sykes. It shows NO nicks, bends, or other flaws. Only light age staining...NO corrosion. The edge is razor sharp! The nickel crossguard is near mint/mint, with the /|\56 MOS (Ministry Of Supply) Inspectors stamp underneath the U.S. Import Stamp. The WSC nickel plated handle is like mint. Showing virtually NO wear. Full nickel plating present. The pommel nut has never been disturbed. The scabbard is WW2 vintage as per "England" stamp, etc. There is damage to the chape, and the scabbard does show wear. It does fit the stiletto perfect. I believe that both have been together since WW2. The scabbard chape is normally nickel plated though. When I started collecting, this variation was not that rare. Today, is another story, with endless new collectors arriving constantly.
