****SOLD**** American Civil War era Foot Artillery sword. Also refered to as M1833, this sword was contracted with Ames Mfg. Co. by the Army Ordnance Dept. on June 5, 1832 and was used by the foot artillery until 1870. The blade is made of polished steel and displays two broad four inch fullers side by side near the hilt and a longer single fuller extends down the center of the blade. The solid brass hilt is moulded in a scalloped design to suggest eagle feathers, and it is secured to the tang with three iron rivets. The pommel features an American Eagle & Shield cast on both sides. Overall length is 25", and Blade length is 19". Sword is in very nice condition. Sorry no scabbard.
