Jean Tanazacq Scarce Massive "Natchez Bowie" 1980 Two markings on Blade(Map of France & Wild Boar) Rosewood Handle Brass Guard
Description: Jean Tanazacq is one of France's most illustrious knifemaker and artisans. His productions all exude a very strong personality, superb ergonomics, and they are closer to a piece of art than a knife. Fine and scarce, massive Jean Tanazacq early Natchez Bowie knife ARDENNLAME era, brass double guard, one piece walnut grip and matching brass butt cap. 11-3/8-inch clipped point blade, 2- 1/8 inch at its widest point, from well over 3/8-inch steel stock. Brass guard is 5-1/2" in length. Large brass butt cap. Ricasso stamped with wild boar marking on obverse, reverse stamped with map of France. Contained in original brown leather scabbard with embedded wild boar carving. The Natchez Bowie can be seen in Tanazacq's original 1980 ARDENNLAME period advertising with the large letter "B." The model offered here is one of only two such knife ever produced between 1980 thru 1984 when the two markings were available ( Map of France and wild boar) after that only the wild boar logo appeared on all blades . A true scarcity in today's marketplace as very few Natchez Bowie have resurfaced to date, since these are seldom seen today. The scarcity of this model is vouched by the two rare markings on the blade. Knife is in a gorgeous condition, with few marks on guard but blade is flawless. The odds in locating such specimen today similar as the one I am offering are slim to none. The original 1980 advertisements are included with the knife(see picture # 1 and # 13). SOLD
