Description: SCHUYLER HARTLEY & GRAHAM 1850 Officer’s Sword Civil War Officer’s Sword with Etched Blade! Here we present an antique U.S. Model 1850 Foot Officer’s Sword, made circa 1860 by Schuyler, Hartley & Graham of New York. The Model 1850 had a service life of 1850-72, with the climax of the action being the American Civil War, followed by the Indian Wars. This example features a 31-1/2 inch blade with two-thirds of the blade etched. The right side bears the faint marking of “Schuyler, Hartley & Graham/New York”. The etching on this side features vines with “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in a banner. The left side of the blade features a sunburst with vines and a large “U.S.” The leather scabbard features brass hardware, all numbered “55”. The cast brass guard is decorated with flowers. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces have a nice, untouched patina. The markings are legible. The original leather grip is thinning. The wire wrap is original. The leather of the scabbard shows wear, but is very good overall. Here is a very handsome Civil War officer’s sword perfect for a patriotic display. Own the original!
