Colt Firearms Custom Knife

Description:
Rare Samuel Colt Signature Custom Knife that was made in the Colt Custom Shop 1985-1986. Colt made only 10 prototypes of these fully etched blades on a case hilt, but never issued the knives due to the expense of manufacture. The case and the handle of the knife has the Colt Custom Shop Logo medal . I purchased this knife from a gentleman and he had a friend that worked for Colt and this is how he came to own this knife. I have no provenance for this knife only the story that the gentelman told me when I purchased it from him in 2001. In later years the Franklin Mint issued a knife that was similar to this prototype but does not have the black background. Will ship Proirity Insured Mail.  Added 09/05/2020  After I first listed this knife I have received messages from two established Colt Collectors who tell me that my story of the origin  of this knife is totally false and knives were made for Colt by  another company and that many were produced and numbered or lettered for special needs as they were ordered. This knife is not numbered or lettered and has the custom shop logo on knife and case. Now I don't know what to believe so I am lowering the price as it is still a very nice collectible and it is not my intention to mislead anyone.
