PATRIOTIC Screaming Eagle Sword by F.W. WIDMANN Early 19th Century AMERICAN
With SILVER PLATED Brass Guard, PEARL GRIP & Decorated Blade
Description: PATRIOTIC Screaming Eagle Sword by F.W. WIDMANN Early 19th Century AMERICAN With SILVER PLATED Brass Guard, PEARL GRIP & Decorated Blade Here we present an antique F.W. Widmann American Eagle Head Sword, manufactured circa the early to mid-1800s in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Frederick Wilhelm Widmann came to the United States from Prussia circa 1815, making and selling swords from around 1816 until his death is 1848. Widmann’s swords had very recognizable characteristics that made them unique and very attractive to collectors. After his death in 1848, William H. Horstmann, of Horstmann & Sons took over his equipment. The “Eagle Head” sword was popularized during the American Revolutionary War and was one of the signature weapons of the young United States through the War of 1812 and into the 1830s. This sword features a 30 3/4" straight blade with patriotic etching and an overall length of 36 inches. It sports an F.W. Widman of Philadelphia marked silver plated brass hilt and pearl grip. There is strong silver plating in the inside of the languet along with "1" marked twice. The overall condition is very good. The blade is bright and etched with U.S. symbolism. The hand guard is slightly loose. The pearl grips are in good shape. The wire wraps have a little bit of movement. The scabbard is in poor shape. Here is a nice American sword to display and collect! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1275 #20781 SOLD Antique: Yes |
