CIVIL WAR Infantry U.S. Springfield Model 1863 Rifle Musket Dated 1864
Description: Antique U.S. Springfield Model 1863 Rifle Musket Civil War Union Main Infantry Rifle Dated 1864 Here we present an antique U.S. Springfield Model 1863 Type II Rifle Musket with bayonet, made in 1864 at Springfield Armory in Springfield, Massachusetts. This rifle musket probably does not need any other introduction, but these longarms were the primary infantry weapon of the American Civil War and the single most used weapon of the entire conflict. This rifle follows the Type II pattern of the Model 1863, which happens to be the last U.S. martial muzzleloader before converting to breech-loading rifles. The lock is marked “U.S. Springfield” with the federal eagle toward the front and “1864” at the back. The nipple bolster is also marked with an eagle. The left side of the breech is marked “V/P/eaglehead”, standard U.S. proof and view markings for martial weapons of the time. The bayonet is marked “FORREST”. This example looks as you would expect a 150 year old survivor of the Civil War to look. That may be just the look you are going for. The walnut stock is weathered, but intact and sturdy. The markings are legible. The bore is effectively smooth. The action is strong. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 40 inch in length. Caliber: .58 percussion Bore is in good condition and the firing mechanism is functional. Overall condition as seen in photos. Here is a fantastic opportunity to own a piece of Civil War history. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1400 #10335 SOLD Antique: Yes |
