Box of WWII through Vietnam Era Remington Brass M19 Shotgun Shells
Description: Here is a box of 10 Brass 12 ga 00 Buckshot , LOT RA5001 and 312-37 made by Remington Arms Company. According to Canfield's Combat Shotgun Guide, the US abandoned producing the 25-couont boxes of brass shells in favor of these smaller boxes and dubbed them the Model 19 for overseas combat, approved March 29, 1945. It appears never opened. Bruce Canfield attributes a box like the one shown here to be WWII or Vietnam era vintage, but of course could fall anywhere in between I suppose. Brass was used due to adverse conditions during WWII, but in time, the US found that the conditions in Vietnam were not as harsh and therefore we able to develop other shotgun ammunition without the brass case. Because of the lot number here, it seems unlikely that this box was produced during WWII, given the war ended just a short time after the contract was signed. However, no way I could completely rule it out either. This box would be a wonderful addition to a collector of any trench or riot gun of the post WW1 era, Winchester 1897, Stevens 520-30 or 620, Ithaca 37, Savage 77E etc. shotgun. Shipping will be $12.
