Rare ROYAL NEPALESE Brunswick Pattern Percussion MUSKET & Sword Bayonet Musket Hand Made in Nepal with SWORD BAYONET
Description: Rare ROYAL NEPALESE Brunswick Pattern Percussion MUSKET & Sword Bayonet Musket Hand Made in Nepal with SWORD BAYONET Here we present an antique Royal Nepalese Brunswick Pattern Percussion Musket, which is a copy of a British Brunswick rifle. About 12,000 of these were hand made in Nepal between 1840 and 1860. The Brunswick rifle is a large caliber muzzle-loading percussion rifle manufactured for the British Army at the Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield in the early 19th century. Nepal had received much aid from British India, and they were loyal to the British. During this time in India, there was a rebellion stirring, and it led to the Indian Mutiny of 1856-59. It was also known as the Sepoy mutiny, the great rebellion, and the revolt of 1857. The British had implemented social reforms that caused many Indians to rebel. Nepal sent 12,000 troops to assist. Ultimately the Indian rebellion was a failure, although some changes did take effect. The British Empire had no choice but to put new policies in place. The East India Company was dissolved. The Government of India Act 1858 was passed reorganizing the British Army, finances, and administrations in India. This musket is the last of its kind with East India Company influences! The overall condition is Good. The action is strong. There are, what looks to be, Hindi/Nagari hand carvings on both sides of the butt stock. The bayonet features a crude version of the East India Companies newly adopted Rampant lion symbol on the langet. A scarce piece of fascinating British Colonial & Nepalese history! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 34-1/2 inches. Caliber: .68 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1450 #190023 SOLD Antique: Yes |
